Digital Probe Thermometers.
A digital probe thermometer is almost a necessity when you start thinking about cooking different types of meat. A good cooking thermometer can make the difference between a perfectly prepared meal, and one that has been way over, or under cooked. If you like turkey when it’s roasted or done in one of the many different types of deep fryers, then you know it can be relatively difficult to get the bird done just the way you want it.
First you need to get the temperature of the oil, or the oven to the precise temperature, and that means you need to be able to monitor the temperature. When I first got my turkey fryer, I would use a really short meat thermometer with a dial on it. This worked ok, but when the oil is bubbling and boiling; the oil tends to spatter. When that happens, you run the risk of getting burned. Then you shake your hands trying to get the oil off, and drop the probe down in the fryer. Great, now what do you do?
I’m here to tell you, that it didn’t take long to figure out that a longer probe on the thermometer was the way to go. I started looking for a digital probe thermometer that would attach to the side of the fryer with a clip of some sort, or hang on the rim of the deep fryer. I wanted a set of temperature probes that I could use for everything. Roasting, frying, baking whatever. I needed a digital thermometer that I could put into the oven and shut the door, and still be able to read the display without opening the oven door. That’s when I found the wide selection of digital probe thermometers at Amazon. They have such a variety of cooking thermometers and timers available at Amazon, You can spend a couple hours browsing, and reading probe thermometer reviews so you can make a really informed buying decision, and purchase the digital probe thermometer that does everything you would like it to do.
I am happy to report that now you can get the professional results your striving for when cooking, or roasting any kind of meat. You can put the digital probes into the food and close the oven door, and when the desired temp. is achieved, an alarm will sound letting you know that your family feast is ready.
Some cooking thermometers have multiple probes attached, which allows you to monitor two different types of meat at the same time. There is a number of high quality Digital Cooking Thermometers available online today, and the digital probe thermometer is one of the most commonly used temperature measuring devices in the cooking and baking industry today.
One of the many advantages of the probe thermometers is that they are programmable, and much easier to read than the older glass thermometers, and are consistently more accurate than the dial types of meat thermometers.
Not to mention the fact that now you can monitor the temperature of what your cooking without opening the oven door every half hour, which reduces the heat loss, and temperature fluctuations that result from opening and closing the oven door.
Another great reason to purchase a digital probe thermometer is that now, you can prepare and monitor two different types of meat simultaneously. You can have a dinner roast and a turkey for instance, cooking at the same time and be able to monitor the internal temperature of both without opening the oven door. I think that’s awesome. The most important thing i think when cooking is to make sure you have excellent pans. It’s well worth spending extra to have excellent suacepans and knives.
I have a similar thermometer that was my token for my first tour to the US. I didn’t realize that we have to place it to the chicken while it is cooking until I saw it being used in a movie.
I chose this brand because it had a higher temperature range. It seems very accurate in reading the internal temp of the meats. Good post!
